One of my stories has been translated into Farsi by Asadollah Amraee, and many others by Jalil Jafari, two of which have been published in the Iranian journal, Golestaneh Magazine. Currently, I'm an Associate editor for Narrative Magazine. In 2011, I was awarded the Carol Houck Smith Contributor Scholarship for the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference.

Yesterday I showed my youngest son a bee that had fallen asleep inside an iris. Later when we were talking about what bees do for flowers, spreading pollen etc., this is what he said: "When I grow up I'm going to have a nice bee to spread pollen over my house to make a new house for the next year."
